HOW WE MET

SEED PLANTED
In 2010, Marie Motais was invited by Anna Halprin to an artistic residency with her company alluna at Mountain Home Studio and Sea Ranch, California. The intention was to revisit Anna's piece Spirit of place, to deepen it, develop it and to transpose it in a variety of public spaces in France and in Europe.
This collaboration was inspired by the rich and dynamic relationship that the two artists, Anna and Marie, were developing together, and their shared vision of a certain "artivism" through the act of dance and a work involving the public at different levels.
They spent 3 weeks deepening their creative process, and finally decided to create a new piece: a time for everything, which was presented at the end of the residency at Mountain Home studio in June 2010, and then in France at Le Regard du Cygne studio in June 2011.
What developed between Anna and Marie went beyond the creation of this work. The reflection around Spirit of place and then the new creation was totally aligned with what Anna was envisioning for Circle the Earth, of which the Planetary Dance and Earth Run are part. During the residency, Anna personally pass on to Marie the processes and the profound meanings behind the evolution of Circle The Earth and Planetary Dance scores.

For Anna, the intentions of Circle The Earth and Planetary Dance, to enable a Dance for Peace to be performed worldwide, accessible to all people, of all nations, was the most important legacy she wished to leave, and she saw in Marie an equally creative and passionate Artist with whom she could share this work. The transmission Marie received was directly linked to the unique and vibrant artistic relationship that had developed between them as artists, both deeply concerned by the planet's current crisis and sharing the conviction that creativity, dance and ritual have a powerful role to play in the positive transformation of the planet.

MEETING WITH AUDICIA
During this period of collaboration, Anna also organized the Planetary Dance's first facilitation workshop at Mountain Home Studio, making the work she was developing with Marie more public. Audicia Lynne Morley was invited to be Anna's assistant for this workshop, enabling another collaboration to take place.

Many bonds united Marie and Audicia: a deep mutual interest and a passion for Anna's work and heritage, but also for dance, and an attachment to the Kogis and the message they were transmitting to the world. For Marie and Audicia, it was a unique meeting of shared values and principles in the direct lineage of Anna, as they were both being performing artists and choreographers inspired in the power of creativity, dance and ritual.

Marie and Audicia collaborated on Planetary Dance's second facilitation workshop at Mountain Home Studio a year later, and since then have maintained a creative dialogue about the deeper context of Circle the Earth process and Planetary Dance, both supporting annual Planetary Dance offerings in their respective environments.

BEGINNINGS IN EUROPE
In 2020, Marie and Audicia envisioned the first European Circle the Earth facilitation workshop, but due to Covid, implementation was postponed until 2023 in Brittany. The intention was to continue sharing the rich heritage and specific transmission that Marie received from Anna about the Circle the Earth and Audicia around the Planetary Dance process in an ongoing effort to dance for peace, healing and transformation in the world.

This project eventually came to life for the first time in June 2023 with the collaboration of another trainee of Anna Halprin: Chloé Noble. Audicia and Marie have found in her the partnership they needed to create Planetary Dance Europe. Chloé's expertise and love for Anna's work and legacy made her the perfect support. The trio had formed.

Today it is with the strongest social engagement and faith within this work that Marie, Audicia and Chloé continue to teach Circle the Earth and the Planetary Dance in Europe. Facing all that is currently happening in the world, it remains tremendously important to act for peace and social justice and to continue to transmit and keep alive the visionary work of Anna.

UNE GRAINE PLANTÉE
En 2010, Marie Motais a été invitée par Anna Halprin à une résidence artistique avec sa compagnie alluna au Mountain Home Studio et à Sea Ranch, en Californie. L'intention était de revisiter la pièce d'Anna Spirit of Place, de l'approfondir, de la développer et de la transposer dans une variété d'espaces publics en France et en Europe.
Cette collaboration a été inspirée par la relation riche et dynamique que les deux artistes, Anna et Marie, développaient ensemble, et leur vision partagée d'un certain « artivisme » à travers l'acte de danse et d'un travail impliquant le public à différents niveaux.
Elles ont passé trois semaines à approfondir leur processus de création, et ont finalement décidé de créer une nouvelle pièce : Un Temps pour Tout, qui a été présentée à la fin de la résidence au studio Mountain Home Studio en juin 2010, puis en France au studio Le Regard du Cygne en juin 2011.

Ce qui s'est développé entre Anna et Marie est allé au-delà de la création de cette œuvre. La réflexion autour de Spirit of Place et la nouvelle création étaient totalement alignées avec ce qu'Anna envisageait pour Circle the Earth, dont la Danse Planétaire et Earth Run font partie. Pendant la résidence, Anna a personnellement transmis à Marie les processus et les significations profondes derrière l'évolution des partitions de Circle The Earth et de la Planetary Dance.

Pour Anna, l'intention de Circle The Earth et de la Planetary Dance; de permettre à une Danse pour la Paix d'être exécutée dans le monde entier, accessible à tous les peuples, toutes les nations; était l'héritage le plus important qu'elle souhaitait laisser, et elle voyait en Marie une artiste créative et passionnée avec laquelle elle pourrait partager ce travail.
La transmission que Marie a reçue était directement liée à la relation artistique unique et vibrante qui s'était développée entre elles en tant qu'artistes, toutes deux profondément concernées par la crise actuelle de la planète et partageant la conviction que la créativité, la danse et les rituels ont un rôle puissant à jouer dans la transformation positive de la planète.

RENCONTRE AVEC AUDICIA
Au cours de cette période de collaboration, Anna a également organisé le premier atelier de facilitation de la Danse Planétaire au Mountain Home Studio, rendant ainsi plus public le travail qu'elle développait avec Marie. Audicia Lynne Morley a été invitée à être l'assistante d'Anna pour cet atelier, ce qui a permis à une autre collaboration de voir le jour.

De nombreux liens unissent Marie et Audicia : un intérêt mutuel profond et une passion pour le travail et l'héritage d'Anna, mais aussi pour la danse, et un attachement aux Kogis et au message qu'ils transmettent au monde.
Pour Marie et Audicia, il s'agissait d'une rencontre unique de valeurs et de principes partagés dans la lignée directe d'Anna, puisqu'elles étaient toutes deux des artistes de scène et des chorégraphes inspirées par le pouvoir de la créativité, de la danse et du rituel.

Marie et Audicia ont collaboré au deuxième atelier de facilitation de Planetary Dance au Mountain Home Studio un an plus tard, et ont depuis maintenu un dialogue créatif sur le contexte plus profond du processus Circle the Earth et de Planetary Dance, soutenant toutes deux les offres annuelles de Planetary Dance dans leurs environnements respectifs.

LES DÉBUTS EN EUROPE
En 2020, Marie et Audicia ont envisagé le premier atelier européen de facilitation Circle the Earth, mais en raison de Covid, la mise en œuvre a été reportée à 2023 en Bretagne. L'intention est de continuer à partager le riche héritage et la transmission spécifique que Marie a reçu d'Anna à propos du Cercle de la Terre et d'Audicia autour du processus de Danse Planétaire dans un effort continu pour danser pour la paix, la guérison et la transformation dans le monde.
Ce projet a finalement vu le jour pour la première fois en juin 2023 avec la collaboration d'une autre personne formée par Anna Halprin : Chloé Noble. Audicia et Marie ont trouvé en elle le partenariat dont elles avaient besoin pour créer Planetary Dance Europe. L'expertise de Chloé et son amour pour le travail et l'héritage d'Anna ont fait d'elle le soutien idéal. Le trio était désormais formé !

Aujourd'hui, c'est avec un puissant engagement social et une grande confiance en ce travail que Marie, Audicia et Chloé continuent d'enseigner Circle the Earth et la Planetary Dance en Europe. Face à tout ce qui se passe actuellement dans le monde, il reste extrêmement important d'oeuvrer pour la paix et la justice sociale et de continuer à transmettre et à faire vivre le travail visionnaire d'Anna.
